Paillard Columbia 8 Air Cylinder Music Box Swiss 1890's
Our Price:
$189.00
Our Price:
$1,995.00
Bought in a fine estate near Atlanta this very nice violin is ready to produce beautiful music. It is in great shape, in a nearly new portable, padded, fabric case. Bow is included! We buy entire estates and pass the savings on to you. Please visit our 2 Atlanta stores, Aardvark Antiques, and our online store.
The Columbia line of cylinder music boxes was Paillard's attempt to compete with the disc music box during the 1890s. This example has an inlaid lid, crank winder on right side, and nice tone for a late period music box. This is such a very fine piece and in very good shape with minor wear. It does play! I do not guarantee it to play if we ship this heirloom however we will go to great lengths to protect it and insure it! I believe the top is rosewood with finely done marquetry. It measures 21" x 10" x 7".
Please check our feedback and buy with confidence. If you get near Atlanta come in and see this rare treasure at our store Aardvark Antiques. Please visit our online store at www.aardvark-antiques.com

Sherman Clay Baby Grand Piano
Victrola VV XI Phonograph 1912
Our Price:
$4,995.00
Our Price:
$495.00
Sherman Clay Baby Grand Piano. Just Fabulous. This fine instrument not only looks great but sends beautiful music throughout our store with brilliant, voluminous, rich, quality sound. It measures 63"D x 57"W and 40"(Closed). I don't think you will find a better piano for the money anywhere. It does have a little damage on the bottom left corner. The picture looks much worse than it does in person. It is barely noticeable unless you sit on the floor. Probably a $200 repair. Please visit our store just north of Atlanta, Aardvark Antiques, to view this heirloom. Buy online now or call us to secure this treasure for yourself. 770-534-6611 Thanks!

Everything is believed original except for the (2) main springs, governor springs, soundbox seals, the lid key and leather brake pads.
History:
From the family of a long time antique collector. Important estate near Atlanta
Most people don't know the operation of this equipment so I thought I'd do a brief description:
1. First you need a record which was recorded acoustically...that is pre-1930. Newer records are made of softer materials and will not tolerate the heavy steel needle. Place the record on the turntable, groove side up. (Many records of the period are single sided)
2. Needles are good for one play on one side, so choose a new Loud, Medium or Soft style needle and secure it in the soundbox.
3. Wind the machine up. (Never say crank) 30 Winds maximum will play two sides of a 12 inch record or 4 sides of a 10 inch record.
4. All records were not recorded at 78RPM, so you may need to change the knob controlling the speed.
5. Set the semi-automatic stop mechanism if you wish, release the brake on the turntable and give it a little spin with your fingertip.
6. Gently swing the soundbox/needle down to near the records edge and guide it into the groove.
7. If you want more volume, open up the doors restricting the horn (The two smaller doors on the front of the machine). If it's too loud then close them.
The only thing left is to enjoy the sounds recorded more than 77 years ago.
We do not deliver furniture, therefore, no shipping charges will be included as part of this purchase. We have our customers hire the shipper for their protection! We have recommended shippers our customers use often and can help you facilitate this easily.
