Aardvark has the best mirrors of all!
Recently, I met a lovely young lady named Blessing. Over the years, Blessing loves antiques and has collected many different pieces. When I asked her what her favorite piece is, she said it is a big, beautiful, ornate, antique mirror hanging in her living room. Of all her pieces, that is her favorite!
Usually, mirrors are made of a piece of glass with a coating of aluminum or silver on the back to create a reflection. However, mirrors are so much more than that.
There is quite a bit of superstition involving mirrors. We’ve all heard that it is bad luck to break a mirror. Some have even claimed that a vampire has no reflection in a mirror. In ancient times, people covered mirrors after the untimely death of a loved one. Lewis Carroll wrote of a mirror that was a gateway to another time in “Through the Looking Glass”. Mirrors have been called “windows to the soul” and the evil queen in Snow White had an enchanted mirror. The fear of mirrors is called “spectrophobia”.
However you may look at it, mirrors have an interesting past. Mirrors have been used for centuries for practical purposes and for decorating. Mirrors add character, beauty, and style to any space. They can cause a room to look more open and spacious. Their ornate frames can be a point of beauty and conversation in any home.
So, now that you are in the market for a great mirror, why not check out some of the mirrors that we have available. Don’t worry, none of our mirrors have mystical pasts. As far as we know…
