Very interesting piece, Believed to have relation to Belgium Home of Orphans, Small bronze plaque, Front side depicts a Woman comforting 2 small children, It reads “Jaccueille l’infortune” (welcome the unfortunate), Lower right hand corner imprinted Jaques Marin 1916, Back Side has Raised relief of tree with nest of birds, It reads “Enfant si tu as faim si tu as froid si ton foyer est desert si l’affliction t’accable viens au foyer des orphelin nous t’aimerons” (Child if you are hungry if you are cold if your home is deserted if the affliction overwhelms you come to the home of the orphans we will love you), Lower right hand corner imprinted JM 1916, One edge of piece of stamped Fonson & C9.
