Sandy Springs Appraisals

Antiquing has quickly become one of America’s favorite pastimes. Browsing in and out of Atlanta antique stores, looking for a hidden treasure is not only fun, but also exposes us to our rich history. And as antiquing becomes more popular, we get more requests for Sandy Springs appraisals. People are anxious to find out if what they’ve come across is the real thing or faux.

Unfortunately because there is so much to learn about antiques, even those who have had a few years of experience with the hobby can be taken by some tricky craftsmanship. There are lots of ways to make something new look like a period piece and unless you have a professional trained eye, you too could be fooled. Having an expert give you an appraisal in Sandy Springs is the best way to know exactly what you have.

Aardvark Antiques and Estate Liquidators is known for our outstanding reputation for uncompromising honesty, integrity, professionalism, and service. When you need an Sandy antique Springs appraisal, you get the very best from Aardvark Antiques and Estate Liquidators.

All of our antique appraisals are conducted by Charles Pharr Jr. (Mr. Aardvark) of Gainesville, Ga. with the help of a meticulous group of antique appraisers. Because the antique field branches out into so many different areas, it is quite impossible for one person to be an expert in every area.

Aardvark Antiques and Estate Liquidators has a team of professionals who individually have their own area of expertise, while collectively making up a diverse and knowledgeable group of antique appraisers.

Our professional antique appraisers are always adding to their wealth of knowledge by attending seminars and training classes. The more we learn, the better we serve you. We’ll always give you an honest appraisal and trustworthy information on a piece based on our research. You will never be misled. Because there are so many areas of antiques, if we don’t know, we’ll tell you. We conduct our business with honesty and integrity.

There are a few things to keep in mind before purchasing an antique that can help steer you clear of imitations. The first being, if it looks new, it probably is. If you’re told an art piece made of porcelain dates back to the 19th century, you should notice some normal wear. Anything that is over 100 years old is expected to have some form of chipping, cracking, or discoloration. To what degree is another story, but you should definitely see the effects time has taken on an item.

Unfortunately detecting the age of an item is not always that easy. As with everything, there are some people who would like to pass off a fake to an unsuspecting novice antique collector. From banging furniture with chains to soaking linens in teas, it’s difficult to know what’s truly in front of you. And to be fair, some of these reproductions look alarmingly similar to the original. Even sellers who are new to the business may not know they’re selling fakes.

That’s why it’s so important to find an expert you can trust. For all of your Sandy Springs antique appraisals , you should turn to the professionals at Aardvark Antiques and Estate Liquidators. Aardvark Antiques and Estate Liquidations has the knowledge and skills to appraise just about anything. We appraise it all.
